Installing Dongle Driver for Linux

"I have used pretty much all of the simulators out there, Hspice, HPspice, PSpice, Mspice, Accusim, Spectre, SpectreRF and the list goes on... but none are as simple, straightforward to use as SIMetrix."

Important Notes for USB Dongles on Linux

Officially the suppliers of our licensing system - Acresso Software - only support the use of dongles on Redhat 7, 8 and 9 systems along with Suse Linux Enterprise Server 8.1. Unfortunatley, we no longer support the operation of SIMetrix on these systems.

However, we have successfully tested the USB dongles on 32 bit Redhat Enterprise Linux Systems. But, because Acresso Software do not officially support these systems we cannot guarantee to be able to fix any problems encountered with these distributions.

Instructions

The dongle is always shipped with the CD and the following assumes that you have this. If not an ISO image of the CD can be downloaded. Visit Download Links and obtain the "CD ISO Image (Windows and Linux)" file. If you do not have the required user name and password, click here.

To install the dongle driver, proceed as follows:

  1. Insert and mount the CD-ROM
  2. cd to the correct directory as follows:

    Redhat 7.x - Drivers/flexid9/Linux-redhat7
    Redhat 8.0, 9.0 - Drivers/flexid9/Linux-redhat8-9
    SuSE 8.x 9.x - Drivers/flexid9/Suse8-9

  3. Instructions are given in the install.pdf file located in the relevant directory
  4. When the driver is correctly installed, the red LED on the dongle should light when it is plugged in
